  41. to order a copy of the book.  I didn't get through and got the same  
  42. message both times about checking the number before calling again,  
  43. so I assume the numbers are somehow incorrect (I checked my dialing  
  44. carefully).

  77. As I have heard recently, Bill Moore is alive and well in LA.  Don Ecker has  
  78. recently interviewed him and was told that he was a "controlled asset" for the  
  79. spook community.  This article appears in the latest issue of UFO Magazine.  
  80. As we have always asserted, the MJ-12 documents are generally considered  
  81. fakes, however this does not answer a few open questions:  1)  Why? and 2)  
  82. Where did some of the interesting information contained in them come from?  As  
  83. most know, the MJ-12 documents list Donald Menzel as one of the "Unholy 12."  
  84. At first blush, this sounds completely preposterous as Don Menzel was one of  
  85. UFOlogists most colorful bashers, next to Phil Klass.  However, Stan  
  86. Friedman's latest research uncovered some very interesting things about  
  87. Menzel's "closet-life," including his involvement in high level intelligence  
  88. matters.  This would shed some different light on Menzel, and now brings to  
  89. the fore a big question about who in fact really hoaxed the documents.

  118. In reading "Blank Check" by Tim Weiner, he claims that Forrestal went bonkers  
  119. and began to think that the Japanese were poisoning him and following him  
  120. around, among other things.  Maybe Bill Moore was do a Bennewitz on him :-)

  268. real live piece of a flying saucer would be a helluva lot more than $100,000.

  484. I just polled Paranet and got your message. I then called Telecom  
  485. Australia Overseas telephone assistance and told them about your  
  486. problem. They told me that you should NOT dial 03 (this is our  
  487. internal interstate accesss number) because that only applies to  
  488. people calling within Australia. I know I've had similar problems  
  489. with our nodelist telephone number.  My code here in Cairns is 070  
  490. but on our nodelist we have to drop first 0 and just have 70. Well, I  
  491. don't know why we have all these complications.

  712. nucleus of the deuterium atom, which is regarded as a single 
  713. subatomic particle.

  724. there was only ONE control sample taken. Additionally, the gamma 
  725. spectroscopy peaks observed could have been decoded incorrectly. 
  726. Gamma spec data is difficult to interpret. Lastly, if deuteron 
  727. activation was the method by which the 13 isotopes were created, 
  728. there should also have been additional isotopes detected that were 
  729. absent in the samples.

  731. What we now have is some intriguingly suggestive data which has yet 
  732. to be corroborated, but Dudley and Chorost are deserving of great 
  733. praise for the work they've accomplished thus far.

  766. I think I could find some reasoning for this, if the facts do indeed 
  767. come out this way.  The main reason that most of us don't commit 
  768. suicide is that 1. fear of pain greater than desire to die and 
  769. 2. religious teachings against it.  I could easily see that if a 
  770. UFO researcher believed very much in his topic, he could come to 
  771. the conclusion of an athiest, and also conclude that there is no 
  772. 'penalty' to self-inflicted death (unlike many religions which

  985. is consistent with ordinary soap (Ivory, etc., not synthetic detergents).  
  986. Soaps are the sodium and potassium salts of stearic, palmitic, oleic,  
  987. and other medium to long chain fatty acids. Such substances are common  
  988. in nature and are essential components and metabolic intermediates  
  989. of virtually all organisms. 
  990.  Most of the fats, oils, and waxes of plant, animal, and  
  991. microbial origin are esters of fatty acids. The free acids are released  
  992. upon digestion and decomposition and free fatty acids would form  
  993. salts with metallic ions in the soil and very possibly with reagents  
  994. and buffers during Faruk's analysis.   
  995.  Other metal ions also form soaps: insoluble calcium and magnesium  
  996. soaps form as 'scum' when one adds soap to hard water. Lithium soaps  
  997. are used in greases and other fatty acid derivatives are widely used  
  998. in industry and industrial products.  
  999.  While saturated fatty acids and their derivatives are reasonably  
  1000. stable in the absence of microbial degradation, unsaturated fatty acids  
  1001. react with oxygen to become rancid (peroxides, aldehydes, etc.). Some 
  1002. unsaturated oils (drying oils such as linseed) polymerize to higher  
  1003. molecular weight materials. 
  1004.  Fatty acids are also intermediates in the microbial oxidation of  
  1005. petroleum products. My own experience with using unleaded gasoline to  
  1006. kill fire ants in my yard indicates that grass does not grow on the 
  1007. treated soil for up to a year after application. If gasoline, diesel  
  1008. fuel, paint thinner, etc. were spread on the ground, it might take  
  1009. several years for vegetation to grow back completely. 
  1010.  So, I don't see how the presence of fatty acid salts per se at a 
  1011. site is evidence for ET visitation or other paranormal activity.
